Sales Tax Proposal 2026

Please Vote on August 4th, 2026.

It's less about pennies... and more about preparedness.
The Sales Tax Elimination Question would increase the ambulance district sales tax from ½¢ to 1¢ on every dollar spent.
For most purchases, the increase is only a few cents.
Those pennies help support:

• Faster emergency response
• Additional ambulance coverage
• Modern lifesaving equipment
• Continued emergency medical services for our community

A few extra pennies at the register can help make a difference when someone calls 911. 

• The proposal would REPLACE the current ambulance property tax with a dedicated 1 ¢ SALES TAX.
• Essential groceries and many healthcare-related items are generally exempt from Missouri state and local sales tax, so they are not subject to this sales tax. Proven results that speak for themselves.

No matter what happens on August 4, the North Scott County Ambulance District isn't going anywhere. We will continue answering every 911 call, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is our home too. We are your neighbors, your friends, and our families live right here in this community.
However, without additional funding, it will become increasingly difficult to keep pace with the growing demand for emergency medical services. As call volume continues to rise, response times are likely to increase. There will be more occasions when every ambulance is already responding to another emergency, and we will have fewer opportunities to invest in advanced equipment, training, and lifesaving capabilities.
